Luis-Suarez-pre-season2_2977601

The most infamous player from this year’s World Cup (thus far) will have a new professional home.

According to the Liverpool FC website, the team has reached a transfer agreement with FC Barcelona for forward Luis Suarez.

Liverpool FC confirms that Luis Suarez will be leaving the club after a transfer agreement was reached with FC Barcelona. The player now has permission to complete the usual formalities, which will then conclude the transfer.

We would like to thank Luis for his contribution and the role he played in helping bring Champions League football back to Anfield.

Everyone at Liverpool Football Club wishes Luis and his family well for the future.

Suarez of course became a household name in the World Cup after an incident where he bit Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder resulting in a lengthy FIFA 4-month ban which the governing body recently upheld. This of course comes after Suarez’s bite to Branislav Ivanovic back in May of 2013 which forced Suarez to miss the beginning of Liverpool’s 2013-14 season.

Theres’s no official word of the transfer fee however Sky has speculated that it could be in the vicinity of $125 million. Suarez on the other hand will agree to a 5-year deal with the Spanish club pending a medical examination.

Either way Barcelona now looks even more scary with the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi already on the team. For Liverpool the money should continue to help them build depth after the club recently signed Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can.
