Louisville

Today Louisville basketball learned what they may be in for after recruiting techniques that included strippers and sex for players and prospects between 2010 and 2014 emerged in a tell all book released the details back in October of 2015.

According to a memo released by the NCAA, Louisville basketball will be hit with four level-one violations which are the most serious when it comes to these sort of things including a failure to monitor charge against head coach Rick Pitino.

This all stems from revelations and a year-long investigation that divulged itself into findings that a former Louisville staffer in Andre McGee provided at least $5,400 in impermissible benefits in the form of strippers and prostitutes for players and prospects. These benefits allegedly occurred between December of 2010 and concluded in April of 2014 when he left the program to join UMKC’s staff as an assistant that same year. McGee eventually resigned from that same position last October.

The four violations as outlined by ACCSports.com include:

  • McGee providing impermissible benefits in the form of adult entertainment.
  • McGee’s refusal to furnish relevant information to the investigation.
  • Former assistant Brandon Williams’ refusal to furnish relevant information to the investigation.
  • Head coach Rick Pitino’s failure to monitor McGee.

There’s no telling what could come of this, however judging from the self imposed postseason ban that Louisville gave themselves, the large footprint Louisville has made themselves within the college basketball world and that fact the NCAA is notorious for handing out sugar-coated sentences or slaps on the wrist to big time programs I’m assuming that’s exactly what we’ll get here. A loss of scholarships and probation is probably in the works then we’ll move on and forget about it much like the NCAA’s plan with Penn State and their whole child rape cover-up for the sake of football.

As far as that tell all book? If you haven’t read or heard about it yet it’s called Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen, written by Katina Powell which goes into great detail the orgies that happened on the Louisville campus between 2010 and 2014.
