Thursday night, Oprah Winfrey conducted the first of a two part interview with disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong where it was assumed that he would admit to blood doping during the course of his cycling career.

Which he did and rather quickly.

Within the first few minutes of the interview, Armstrong admitted to blood doping to gain the advantage during  his career which saw him win seven Tour de France titles between the years of 1999 and 2005.

An interesting aspect though of the interview was when he tried to define cheating and cited his doping as to leveling the playing field. Now perhaps these statements were just another way for Armstrong to indirectly pass blame or say what ultimately happened in the grand scheme of things wasn’t his fault. But in way he does have a point when it comes to leveling the playing field since it’s somewhat widely known that doping in the sport of cycling is pretty persistent.

It isn’t just the doping though that destroyed Lance Armstrong. It’s the way that he went about defending himself during the allegations, the throwing of people under the bus that presents a big problem.

People are going to take this interview how they want to take it. For me it doesn’t change much other than it’s a step in the right direction. MUCH more needs to be done on Lance Armstrong’s part to rebuild himself if it’s even possible at this point.
