Johnny Manziel is quite the guy to follow on twitter as he gets into it with his fans often times reminding them they ‘don’t have to follow him’. But this article really isn’t just about his Twitter shenanigans but what happens off the field with him time and time again (which often times goes hand-in-hand with what happens with him on Twitter).

Over the weekend Manziel was unable to finish a passing camp for high school kids because he claimed to be ill. The Manning Passing Academy, in its 18th year, began Thursday evening and finished Sunday morning however Manziel went home Saturday afternoon after missing the morning session. Multiple internet reports have stated Manziel had been sent home by Archie Manning because of “partying,” but camp officials have claimed that those reports were ‘false’.

A camp spokesman released the following statement which was held at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La.

“Johnny Manziel did participate in some activities in the 2013 Manning Passing Academy as a college counselor/coach,” the statement said. “After missing and being late for practice assignments, Johnny explained that he had been feeling ill. Consequently, we agreed that it was in everyone’s best interest for him to go home a day early.”

It was Manziel’s first appearance as a college coach/counselor at the passing academy after he had been a camper twice during his high school years.

“I enjoyed meeting Johnny,” said Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning “I can remember a 20-year-old Eli Manning missing a meeting and catching some flak. We always have counselors who leave early. Johnny was great with the campers for the time he was here. He had to leave early. I wish him the best and I want him to come back as a counselor next year.”

Manziel could not be reached for comment. He apologized privately to camp officials for being unable to fulfill his commitment.
