Joe Girardi is out as Yankees manager.

According to ESPN 1000’s Dave Kaplan, Girardi will not return next season to the Bronx after 10 seasons in New York.

Reports sound as if the parting between Girardi and the Yankees was mutual after the now former New York manager just finished a four-year, $16 million dollar contract.

During his tenure, the 53-year-old Girardi delivered a World Series and took the Yankees to the postseason six times. He also got a young and talented New York squad within a game of going to Fall Classic this season after losing to the Houston Astros in seven games.

Meanwhile, it’s expected that GM Brian Cashman will return to New York for 2018 and according to ESPN is expected to hire a manager with a “feel for the clubhouse”.

Needless to say, the Yankees job should be a very attractive one given the team is probably a year or so ahead of schedule when it comes to the success they enjoyed in 2017.
