To no one’s surprise, South Carolina LB Jadeveon Clowney announced after the Gamecocks bowl game that he would enter the 2014 NFL Draft.

Clowney – who is considered a top prospect in the upcoming draft – puts to bed any lingering speculation about his plans next season. Not to mention standing at 6’6″ and 274 pounds with incredible speed, athleticism and burst Clowney perhaps gives himself good separation from some of the other defensive prospects on the board.

However despite the physical gifts that Clowney possesses his production level has come into question. In his final season with South Carolina, Clowney had 35 total tackles (10.5 for loss) and three sacks in 10 games, per CFBStats.com. This is down from his 54 total tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss and 13 sacks in 2012.

Either way Clowney sets himself up to possibly be the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft. Or top ten in the very least.
