According to Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News, Giants closer Brian Wilson threw 25 pitches off the mound on Friday something he will also do on Monday.
Baggarly further adds that if the Giants feel they’re out of the race (they currently trail the Diamondbacks by 8.5 games in the NL West) they could very well shut down the bearded closer for the rest of the season.
Prior to Friday’s throwing session, Wilson also threw 22 pitches off the mound on Wednesday as he continues to make progress from an inflamed right elbow.
Unfortunately for Wilson and the Giants, it may be too late.
