Ichiro

Ichiro became the 30th player in Major League Baseball history Sunday to reach 3000 hits as the Marlins outfielder tripled with one out in the top of the 7th against the Colorado Rockies.

Ichiro also becomes the 4th player born outside the United States to reach the illustrious feet and joins Pete Rose as the only other player to eclipse the 3000 hit mark in 16 seasons. The Japanese superstar also joins Willie Mays, Al Kaline and Roberto Clemente as the only players to get 3000 hits and 1o gold gloves throughout his career.

Ichiro will obviously go down as one of the best all around players to play in the MLB. What may be even more astounding about Ichiro’s accomplishments as a player is he was able to do it in the heart of the steroid era without ever being suspected of juicing.
