Spain cemented themselves into the history books Sunday after a 4-0 thrashing of Italy in the Euro 2012 Finals becoming the first national team to win three straight major tournaments. On top of this the Spanish team did not allow a goal in 10 straight knockout matches during the three tournaments and are arguably the greatest international team of all time.

As the match went on Spain gradually took over all aspects keep the play firmly in the Italian end, especially throughout the second half. The older Italian team playing for the third time in eight days simply ran out of gas and fell victim to injury when Thiago Motta dropped them down to ten players.

David Silva and Jordi Alba scored first-half goals, and substitutes Fernando Torres and Juan Mata added two more in the final minutes to send Spain to victory.
