Duke beat Indiana 44-41 in OT during a thrilling back and fourth game between the two teams at the New Era Pinstripe Bowl from Yankee Stadium.

However the game ended in controversy when Hoosiers kicker Griffin Oakes missed a 38-yard field goal in the extra session to tie the game and continue overtime. The controversy occurred when the kick sailed over the right upright and was ruled wide as the Blue Devils stormed the field to celebrate their first bowl win since the 1961 Cotton Bowl. Oakes protested but the play couldn’t be reviewed given the ball went above the upright.

Judging though from this still shot it would appear Oakes did in fact get the ball through the uprights.

This is one of those perplexing occurrences with instant replay. You have a postseason game ending in controversy because of some nonsensical rule book policy that for some reason says you cannot review a field goal because it went above the upright. It seems to me replay was instituted to eliminate the questions and not create more.
