Baltimore Orioles 1 vs. New York Yankees 3

Now, New York goes on to face that Tigers team who’s pretty much had their number ousting the Bombers in 2011 and 2006 postseasons.

Sabathia was spectacular going all nine innings earning the win while superstar third baseman Alex Rodriguez was benched in favor of Eric Chavez.

The Yankees will now host the Tigers in the ALCS beginning Sunday.

St. Louis Cardinals 9 vs. Washington Nationals 7

Friday the St. Louis Cardinals once again achieved the improbable as they defeated the Washington Nationals 9-7 in Game 5 of the NLDS to move on to face the San Francisco Giants.

What was the improbable?

At one time the Nationals, who had the best record in the MLB, jumped out to a 6-0 lead before he Cardinals scratched and clawed their way back like so many times before. Down 7-5 in the top of the 9th with Nationals closer Drew Storen on the mound, the Cardinals scored four runs in the inning to take the lead and eventually the series with a 9-7 win in front of a stunned Washington crowd.

The Cardinals have now won six straight elimination games and will face the San Francisco Giants who came back from 2 down in their series with the Reds.
