With all the lack of hitting surrounding Miguel Cabrera this season one has to wonder what the team is going to do to protect their prized hitter not only this season but next season as well. Lynn Henning of the Detroit News brings up the idea that the Tigers take a shot at Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp. Here is what Henning has to say…
One idea is for the Tigers to take a shot at Matt Kemp, the Dodgers outfielder who’s in the doghouse. Kemp has talent. He also has a bit of baggage (attitude questions, a fast-lane West Coast life befitting a man who dates Rihanna, etc.) that doesn’t make him a likely candidate for the Tigers.
Matt Kemp is batting an unimpressive .255 this season with 22 homeruns and 74 RBI’s which isn’t bad. This is another option for the Tigers in the outfield and perhaps a consolation if they can’t acquire Carl Crawford. Even though he has 22 homeruns and 74 RBI’s he is a lifetime .289 hitter which isn’t terrible but I would like to see if there is anything else the Tigers can do before they roll the dice on a player who does carry some baggage.
