The Tigers signed Pedro Martinez’s son who is a third baseman

Undertaking a massive rebuild, the Tigers today perhaps are looking to perhaps capitalize on some good baseball genes as they look to the future.

According to Baseball America‘s Ben Badler, Detroit divulged themselves into the international pool signing Dominican infielder Pedro Martinez Jr., son pitching great Pedro “Who’s your Daddy?” Martinez.

Although not a pitcher nor listed among the 30 best international prospects during the 2017-18 international signing period, Martinez has shown some offensive ability hitting .500 with an RBI and run scored for the Dominican National Junior Team.

Sample size sure but the kid is only 17-years-old so even if he added 4 home runs and an OPS north of .950 you’d still remain skeptical due to the age.

Pedro Jr. has also said he looks up to Manny Ramirez which could be good or bad depending on how you look at it.
