Tigers pitcher Jeff Ferrell left tonight’s game against the Athletics in the 8th inning after being struck in the back of the head by a 103-mph liner off the bat of Ryon Healy.

Remarkably Ferrell never went down as the ball riccoced off his skull rolling all the way to the tarp along the first baseline of Comerica.

Ferrell was immediately taken out of the game and sent to the hospital for a CTE scan. According to Tigers manager Brad Ausmus Ferrell was very alert the entire time.
