The Tigers lose 2-1 and are swept in their two-game set against the Diamondbacks

A lifeless offense and a two-run Diamondbacks first inning was all she wrote for a Tigers team who seem to no sense of urgency in the most pivotal month of their season.

Looking down the barrel of a potentially sell happy owner if they can’t get their collective June shit together, the Tigers strung together one run on seven hits while leaving seven runners on base in the 2-1 loss. Not only that, Detroit was once again shut down by former Tiger Fernando Rodney who recorded his second save in as many nights.

Meanwhile, Jordan Zimmermann whose quietly had a pretty good June had another quality outing hampered by a lack of run support. Allowing two runs on six hits with six strikeouts over eight innings of work, Zimmermann whose looking to turn around a horrible start to this season has surrendered just five earned runs in twenty innings pitched for the month of June.

Detroit’s lone run came in the third inning off an RBI single from Alex Avila who scored Ian Kinsler.

With tonight’s loss, the Tigers are now 4-6 in their last 10 games with a home series against the Tampa Bay Rays up next.
