The Tigers and James McCann agree on a new salary for 2018

The Tigers avoided arbitration Thursday with catcher James McCann agree on a 2018 salary that’ll see the first year eligible player earn $2.375 million. This according to USA Today‘s Bob Nightengale is a raise of $2 million dollars.

McCann is coming of a 2017 season in which he slashed at .253/.318/.415 over 352 at bats. This includes a .733 OPS with 13 home runs and 49 RBIs.

His early season projections for 2018 according to Baseball Reference has McCann once again hitting 13 homers with his a slight uptick in his RBI output (52). BBR also has the Tigers catcher slashing at .249/.305/.703 for the 2018 campaign.
