The Tigers place Justin Verlander on revocable waivers

After being unable to trade him prior to the waiver deadline, the Tigers have placed former AL Cy Young winner Justin Verlander on revocable waivers per ESPN.

The move isn’t surprising but rather expected considering Verlander’s name arising in trade speculation just prior to the deadline. What would be surprising is if anyone made a claim considering the biggest hang-up with Verlander was the roughly $56 million plus still owed to the veteran over the next two seasons. This doesn’t include a $22 million vesting option for 2020.
