Calvin Johnson

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson told his family as well as head coach Jim Caldwell after the season that 2015 would be his last year.

Calvin Johnson made it public after the Lions’ 6-10, 2015 campaign that retirement was a possibility and he would make his final decision public in the near future. The thought of retirement though wasn’t something that popped into Megatron’s head at the last-minute, according to theScore.com, he let two of his teammates, Stephen Tulloch and Matthew Stafford in on what was possible at the end of the season but told them to keep things quiet.

“Like many players at this stage of their career, I am currently evaluating options for my future. I would expect to have a decision regarding this matter in the not-too-distant future.”

With this recent report from Schefter, it certainly seems like Johnson is going to call it a career and make things easier on that Lions salary cap situation heading into the 2016 season.
