Michigan State Athletic Director Mark Hollis confirmed on Tuesday that the Michigan State men’s basketball team will play North Carolina on an aircraft carrier in San Diego harbor.

The game will be played on Veterans Day which falls on November 11th.

“We are committed to playing the game in San Diego against North Carolina on a USN carrier,” Hollis wrote in a text message to The Detroit News. “We are humbled and honored to pay tribute to those that protect our freedom every day. It will be an amazing experience for our student athletes, but those (service) men and women are the reason for this event occurring.”

North Carolina head coach Roy Williams also confirmed the game…
“It’s completely done now; we have a signed contract in hand,” Williams said. “We’re going to play in the Carrier Classic next year on 11/11/11 — that’s Veterans Day — on an aircraft carrier in the San Diego harbor against Michigan State.”
According to Matt Charboneau of the Detroit News, more details on the game will be released during the Final Four in Houston.
