Could the Lions be without Taylor Decker for the entire 2017 season?

Today the Lions learned that they’d be without their starting left tackle Taylor Decker for at least part of the 2017 season.

The big question however is how much of the season will Decker be out for?

After undergoing shoulder surgery for a torn labrum, the former Lions first round pick will be out for four to six weeks according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Four months would obviously be the optimistic view and could put Decker on pace to return during either week five against the Panthers or week six against the Saints.

However if the Lions are looking down the barrel of a six month absence, fans may not see the left tackle in game action until week 14 in Tampa Bay or week 15 against the Bears. Unfortunately too at that point the Lions may be out of the playoff picture and could just end up shutting down Decker with just a few weeks to go in the regular season.

Losing Decker for any extended period of time would obviously put a bit of a damper on the year, especially considering the work the team went into building up their offensive line over the winter.
