Lions tackle Taylor Decker is pissed that Sean McDonough said he went to Michigan on MNF

Ohio State University

The Michigan/Ohio State rivalry is a contentious one that transcends well beyond a player’s collegiate days are over. Take for instance Lions offensive tackle Taylor Decker – an Ohio State alum – who was none too pleased while watching the Monday Night Football broadcast last night. Not because his team was playing poorly as the Lions for the most part shut down the Giants en route to a 24-10 victory.

Decker – who I’m also assuming already wasn’t thrilled with his shoulder injury that will continue to hold him out for a good portion of the season – was pissed when ESPN play-by-play man Sean McDonough made the mistake of saying Decker attended the University of Michigan.

Here’s what McDonough said during the MNF broadcast (via SportingNews):

“Obviously they miss Taylor Decker, their normal left tackle who is still out for a couple of weeks,” McDonough’s broadcast partner Jon Gruden said.

McDonough then replied by saying, “Out with a right shoulder injury suffered in practice in June. They hope to get Decker back in mid-season. He’s another first round pick out of the University of Michigan.”

And here’s Decker’s response:

I doubt McDonough is going to get fired for that but he certainly didn’t make a fan with Decker.
