Dashon-Goldson-Hit—STACK

With NFL free agency looming at 4PM ET today, Reggie Bush isn’t the only name on the Lions’ radar.

According to a tweet by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, four teams are pursuing Niners safety Dashon Goldson with one of those teams being the Detroit Lions.

Curtis Crabtree of PFT further mentions that the Lions along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers look to be the front runners for Goldson.

Goldson, whose been a staple in the 49ers secondary made consecutive Pro Bowls while accumulating 69 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble last season. And with Ed Reed looking like he could be an option for the NFC Champions, Goldson could be looking for new beginnings with another team.

In addition to Goldson, the Lions are also taking a  look at Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Jason Jones.

The connection between the Lions and Jones is also pretty prevalent. The 26-year old Jones was a second round pick of the Titans back in 2008 when Lions head coach Jim Schwartz was the defensive coordinator. After Schwartz left for Detroit he was replaced by Jim Washburn who is now the defensive line coach with the Lions.

Jones who stands at 6-foot-5 and 276-pounds can play the defensive end and tackle position. That versatility could also be vital if the Lions let Cliff Avril walk which is looking to be the case.
