A big question going into this off-season for the Detroit Red Wings is whether or not team captain Nicklas Lidstrom will return for a 20th season with the team.

Now a sign of Lidstrom’s impending return may have come from Maureen Babcock, Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock’s wife.

According to Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News, Maureen Babcock spotted Lidstrom at a health club earlier this week working out.

“She said he was working out like crazy. His shirt was soaked,” Babcock said.

So what was Babcock’s view of that news?

“I was so excited to hear that you have no idea,” Babcock said.

Lidstrom, who was on a mini vacation this week with teammate Tomas Holmstrom, is expected to give a decision on his playing future by the NHL Entry Draft on June 24th. Many of his Wings counterparts believe he will be back for another season.
