Going into last season it seemed pretty clear the Lions made the right the decision with their 2nd overall pick in Ndamukong Suh. He finished his college career at Nebraska with 214 total tackles with 125 of those being solo tackles. He also had 24 sacks, 4 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles and not to mention multiple defensive awards including Heisman recognition his senior year.

After signing a 5 year, $68 million dollar contract with the Lions, Suh went on to record 10.0 sacks, the most amongst any defensive tackle in the NFL and had 24 tackles. He went on to win the NFL Rookie of the Year, was named to the Pro Bowl and the NFL All Pro first team. Again all in his rookie season.

Now the past few weeks Suh has become almost like a college coach, going to the Pro Bowl and now the Super Bowl building up the Lions and trying to recruit potential free agents.

Suh seems to truly believe in this Lions team judging by the comments he has made in Dallas so far…

“That’s real easy for me – we were 6-10. I know me and my teammates feel that we can win a lot more and get us to the playoffs and hopefully be in a situation like this, not coming to the Super Bowl for an award or just to hang out, but going and being in the Super Bowl and being focused this week and getting ready to play in one of the most important games of my life.”

Not only is Suh dominant on the defensive line but he backs up everything he says off the field as well. How many times in the past have Lions fans had to deal with players with players like Roy Williams or Kevin Smith whose mouths were writing checks that their game couldn’t cash?

Suh is exactly what the Lions needed, plus more.
