Ian Kinsler will meet with Al Avila soon to discuss his future with the Tigers

Will Ian Kinsler be the next Tigers veteran to be dealt, perhaps has early as this offseason?

It looks like it’s a growing possibility as the Tigers’ second baseman is scheduled to meet with GM Al Avila “soon” to discuss his future with the team according to the MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.

Kinsler, who’s entering the final year of his contract with the Tigers holds a partial no trade clause and recently mentioned his willingness to waive it based on what Detroit’s plans are this offseason.

Currently Kinsler is having his worst season with the Tigers since coming over from Texas as part of the Prince Fielder trade back in November of 2013. This year, Kinsler has compiled a 2.2 WAR and slashing at 236/.315/.405 with 19 home runs 46 RBI through 516 at-bats and 575 plate appearances. He’s also admitted his “focus drifted” after the Tigers’ fire sales at the deadline that included included the departures of J.D. Martinez, Justin Wilson, Alex Avila, Justin Upton and Justin Verlander.

Perhaps that all the convincing the Tigers need when it comes to Kinsler and that focus drift considering they’re in for a long rebuild. Then again Kinsler who has a $12 million dollar team option for next season and a $5 million buyout could in fact be more beneficial to the Tigers at that price while still being able to deal him during the 2018 deadlines.
