Calvin Johnson is kinda pissed at the Lions

Calvin Johnson

Calvin Johnson isn’t much a fan of the Lions it seems in his post NFL career.

The former All-Pro and future Hall of Famer recently told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press that he doesn’t “even like to talk Lions too much” these days stemming from the way the organization handled his retirement.

“I don’t even like to talk Lions too much just because the way our relationship ended,” Johnson said Saturday. “If they see me around here, we’ll see. But hey, I don’t know.

“I just didn’t feel like I was treated the way I should have been treated on the way out. That’s all. I mean, it’s all good. I’m not tripping. I don’t feel any kind of way, just hey, that’s what they did. Hey, it is what is.”

Megatron wouldn’t enlighten anyone on the exact reasons why he’s so disillusioned with his former team where he spent nine seasons accumulating 11,619 receiving yards, 83 touchdowns and 731 receptions all of which are franchise records.

“They told me they wouldn’t trade me if I came back and stuff like that, but it wasn’t about that,” Johnson said. “It was about how I felt.”

I won’t speculate too much on why Calvin isn’t too thrilled with the Lions however I assume his ill sentiments started before he decided to hang up the cleats. If anything Detroit seems to have a good reputation of pissing off two of their best offensive players of all-time in the immediate wake retirement.
