Red Wings rank in as the fourth most valuable NHL franchise, Mike Ilitch the 151st richest American


According to Forbes Magazine, the Detroit Red Wings are the fourth-most valuable NHL team at $336 million while their owners, Mike and Marian Ilitch are the 151st richest Americans with a worth of $2.7 billion.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are the most valuable NHL franchised with an estimated worth of $521 million.

In terms of the other Michigan teams the Tigers (Ilitch’s other team) are the 17th most valuable MLB franchise at $478 million. The Yankees with a value of $1.85 billion are MLB’s most valuable franchise.

With a value of $332 million the Pistons are the 17th most valuable team in the NBA with new owner Tom Gores listed as the 179th richest American with a value of $2.5 billion.

The Lakers are the NBA’s most valuable team at $900 million.

The Detroit Lions are the 27th most valuable NFL team but sit atop the Detroit area pro teams in terms of value at $855 million. The Dallas Cowboys are the NFL’s most valuable franchise at $2.1 billion.
