Major League Baseball released their 2013 schedule Wednesday which put the Tigers opening up the season on the road to face Minnesota on April 1st. Detroit will then open up at home on Friday, April 5th against the New York Yankees for a 1:05PM ET start.
The biggest change for all teams entering 2013 is the Houston Astros jumping to the American League and all divisions in Major League Baseball having five teams. This means that there will have to be an interleague series happening at all times during the year so that no team is left without an opponent on any given day. For the Tigers this means they will play 76 games against teams in their division, 66 against the rest of the league and 20 interleague games.
Some of these interleague games include the Cincinnati Reds coming to town on April 8th and a home and home two game series with the Washington Nationals on May 7-8 at Nationals Park and July 30-31 at Comerica Park.
The Tigers will finish the regular season on a two city six game road trip concluding in Miami on September 29th.
