With the Wings still looking for guys on the blue line, one name out there that still hasn’t found a new home is St. Louis defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo.
Reports last week indicated that the Wings offered a two year deal to the free agent however according to Chuck Pleiness of Red Wings Front, both sides seem to have a difference of opinion on how many years each side wants for a deal.
Colaiacovo, who reportedly is looking for a three-year deal and was originally offered a one-year deal by the Wings, hasn’t played more than 67 games in any season.
After a disappointing offseason in which prime target Ryan Suter got away, Ken Holland seems to be working very conservatively considering the CBA uncertainty heading into the season. ProHockeyTalk.com believes that three years for a defenseman that will log a ton of minutes and give you quality work seems reasonable. However, Colaiacovo is also a guy that is prone to missing some games due to injury which will leave any team thinking twice.
