More familiar faces will be returning to Detroit during the Winter Classic Festivities in late December early January.
According to the Detroit Free Press, former defensemen Paul Coffey and Mathieu Dandenault as well as former forward Martin Lapointe will take part in the Red Wings’ alumni game from Comerica Park.
The former Wings will join former teammates Sergei Fedorov, Slava Fetisov, Igor Larionov, Vladimir Konstantinov (who will serve as an ambassador) and Darren McCarty on the Detroit squad which will be coached two more familiar faces in Scotty Bowman and Barry Smith.
Currently it’s now known whether or not the fifth member of the Russian Five Slava Kozlov will commit to playing as he’s still playing at the pro level in the KHL.
Old-timers Alex Delvecchio, Ted Lindsay and Mickey Redmond are also scheduled to play.
