Tigers latest victim to Yu Darvish in Arlington


The Tigers’ offense seemed to of picked up where it left off Monday night but in the end they simply couldn’t overcome the dominance of Yu Darvish.

Darvish fanned 10 over seven innings earning his 10th victory on the season as the Rangers went on to beat the Tigers 7-5 from Arlington.

The Tigers though were able to jump on Darvish early. Austin Jackson led off the game with a walk while Miguel Cabrera was hit in the ear flap before Prince Fielder’s double quickly made it 2-0 Tigers.

Tigers starter Drew Smyly who was making his first start since coming off the 15-day DL only lasted 4 and 2/3rds innings allowing 6 runs on 8 hits while walking 2 and striking out 3. He gave way to Luis Marte who went 2 and 1/3rds innings giving up a run on twos hits while Jose Valverde also made his return pitching in the 8th.

Prince Fielder added a home run in the night capping off a 4 RBI game while Quintin Berry went 1 for 3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored.
