After the Tigers’ pitching staff wet the bed last night to the tune of 20 runs against the Minnesota Twins, Detroit made some moves to relieve a once again taxed bullpen ahead of today’s double-header. Going to Toledo is lefty Robbie Ray who was good for an inning and a third while letting up 6 runs showing once again tremendous value from that Doug Fister trade over the winter. With that mind the Tigers also sent down lefty reliever Ian Krol while bringing up Kyle Lobstein from Triple-A Toledo along with lefty reliever Patrick McCoy.
The Tigers will more than likely need the help today too as they send to the mound Buck Farmer and his 7.20 ERA ahead of Justin Verlander who makes his return to the mound after missing his last start due to a shoulder issue.
Bottom line, the Tigers’ bullpen will obviously need to be more efficient after last night’s crap fest which saw them use 8 total pitchers including short stop Andrew Romine.
