If Robbie Ray is going to prove to be any value to Detroit, tonight is a good game to show that potential as the reeling Tigers (63-53) take on the Pirates (63-55) in game two of the two game series. Getting the start for Pittsburgh is right-hander Edinson Volquez who’s looking for his 1oth win of the season while Detroit is looking to reclaim first place in the AL Central.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05PM ET from the PNC Park. You can watch the game LIVE on FSD and listen live on 97.1FM The Ticket.
Robbie Ray, LHP – 1-1, 4.70 ERA
The supposed ‘prize’ in the Doug Fister deal, Robbie Ray gets another shot to show he’s a big league pitcher tonight filling in for the injured Anibal Sanchez. Ironically enough Ray’s last call up back in May was also to fill in for an injured Sanchez. This time around though Ray’s numbers in Toledo have been that impressive going 7-5 with a 3.72 ERA.

Edinson Volquez, RHP – 9-7, 3.70 ERA
Volquez was lights out in his last start giving up just one-hit over seven innings in a 7-2 win over Miami on August 7th. In fact Volquez has been very good for the Bucs as of late giving up just 9 earned runs for all of July and 3 for August thus far.
