Tigers pitcher Evan Reed charged with criminal sexual conduct

Evan Reed’s ERA and WHIP are now the least of his worries as a lengthy jail sentence is now looming over his head.

Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy announced Wednesday that Tigers/Mud Hens pitcher Evan Reed will face two counts of criminal sexual conduct stemming from an incident this past March at the Motor City Casino Hotel.

According to reports originating from the Detroit Police Sex Crimes Unit, a 45-year old women claimed that on Mach 29th she was at the 5th Avenue bar in Royal Oak with friends when she was approached by a man named Evan. Upon him introducing himself the two danced and had drinks before leaving the bar for the Motor City Casino and Hotel in Downtown Detroit. The woman though further claims that she doesn’t remember leaving the Royal Oak bar or going back to the Hotel despite waking up the next morning in a casino hotel room unclothed with the same guy (supposedly Reed) from the previous night. From there the woman alleges that she went into the shower where the man engaged in forced sexual contact with her.

Video evidence from the casino shows a blonde woman and a man matching Reed’s description playing casino games on the Motor City floor. Later in the evening the same women appeared on video looking drunk and entering a hotel room with what looked to be Reed while video from the next morning showed the man leaving the room first, followed by the woman.

Reed, who is currently playing for the Mud Hens will be arraigned once he turns himself in to police. If convicted Reed faces up to 15-years in prison.
