Over the past month and a half the Pistons have seemed pretty adamant about moving forward Josh Smith this offseason and for the most part it looks like the Sacramento Kings are interested.
However, the Pistons aren’t looking to get rid of Smith and the $40.5M left on his contract for nothing according to the Detroit Free Press‘ Vince Ellis who says the team is seeking a valuable asset in return. Because of that no trade is imminent at this time. This includes any notion of a third team being involved to help facilitate a deal. Of course this trade talk could change just as quick as the talks initialized over a month ago.
Other reports regarding the Pistons front court surrounded RFA Greg Monroe who was reportedly going to be dealt to Portland in a sign-and-trade just prior to the start of free agency. Those talks however broke down when the Trail Blazers signed former Central Michigan star Chris Kaman to a two-year, $9M contract last week.
