Reports this week were saying that Miguel Cabrera was still feeling the effects of an injury that plagued him a good portion of last season.
If that’s the case, Adam Wainwright couldn’t take advantage.
During the first inning of tonight’s All-Star Game from Minneapolis the Tigers first baseman hit a 2-run shot to left that got out in a hurry giving the AL All-Stars a 3-0 lead. Fittingly the homer by Cabrera scored Trout from third who earlier in the inning had a triple that twisted around Puig in right.
As far as Cabrera and the Tigers though, Cabrera became the 11th player in team history to homer in an All-Star Game and the first since Lou Whitaker did it in 1986.

It was also the first home run that Adam Wainwright has given up since May 30th.
