After being unable to come to terms with any free agent defenseman thus far, Ken Holland and the Detroit Red Wings continue to look at trade options, specifically surrounding Buffalo’s Tyler Myers.
According to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, the Wings continue to look at scenarios when it comes to the big, young Sabres blue liner who signed a large seven-year, $38.5-million contract in 2012 but has been unable to develop into form as of yet.

Aside from the large contract a major sticking point for the Wings is what Buffalo is seeking in return. According to St. James Buffalo GM Tim Murray is seeking one of Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tatar, Tomas Jurco, or 2013 20th overall draft pick Anthony Mantha who tore up the QMJHL once again this past season.
That’s not all though, Murray is also seeking a high draft pick in return and possibly another young player.
Despite the cap room the Wings already have, Myers’ cap hit is much more manageable averaging out to $5M per season. This is down from the $17M he made the first two seasons of the seven-year deal.
