Justin Abdelkader who’s the captain of Team USA at the World Championship’s is facing IIHF discipline after destroying the Czech Republic’s Vladimir Sobotka during today’s quarterfinal match up in Belarus.
Abdelkader was issued a charging penalty (his second of the game) as well as a game misconduct.
If Abdelkader is suspended this would be his second suspension of the World Championships. Abdelkader was handed a one-game suspension just a few days ago for knee-to-knee hit on Kazakhstan’s Konstantin Pushkaryovbegan.
Team USA currently trails the Czech Republic 4-1 entering the third period.
