The AL leading Tigers (25-12) look to capitalize off a shutout win Friday night as they take on the Boston Red Sox (20-21) in game 2 of their weekend series from Fenway Park.
Tonight’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM ET and you can watch the game live on FOX Sports Detroit or listen live on 97.1FM The Ticket. As always on you can track the game on both the Majors Detroit Facebook and Twitter Feeds.
Rick Porcello, RHP – 6-1, 3.22 ERA
Rick Porcello rides into tonight’s start on a five game winning streak despite leaving a 4-1 win against Baltimore in his last start after throwing just 83 pitches due to some left side tightness. Aside though from his 6-1 record and 3.22 ERA, Porcello has been extremely effective inning to inning with his 1.03 WHIP while compiling a total of 29 strikeouts. Porcello will also look to improve his numbers at Fenway Park a place he’s allowed 14 runs over 11 2/3 innings.
John Lackey, RHP – 5-2, 3.57 ERA
Much like Porcello, John Lackey has been very effective for the Red Sox this season giving up two earned runs or less in six of his last eight starts. In his last outing Lackey went seven innings against the Rangers allowing just 2 runs and 7 hits in a 5-2 win. He’s also enjoyed some dominance against the Tigers in his last match up against them out dueling Justin Verlander 1-0 during the ALCS.
