Red Wings acquire David Legwand from the Predators

UPDATE: It looks like Legwand’s Red Wings debut will come Thursday on a line with Gustav Nyquist and Johan Franzen.

UPDATE: The prospect going to Nashville appears to be Calle Jarnkrok. Ken Holland won’t confirm however until they get a hold of him.

UPDATE: According to Pierre LeBrun the Wings gave up Patrick Eaves, a third rounder and a prospect who has yet to be named.

TSN is also reporting that the reason why the prospect hasn’t been announced is because the Wings can’t find him. Wow…

With injuries and uncertainty up front Ken Holland pulled the trigger and landed Predators center David Legwand just minutes before the 3PM ET NHL trade deadline past.

The 33-year old Detroit native is on the final year of his contract and has 10 goals, 30 assists and 40 point in 62 games played. There’s still no word on who’s going the other way in the deal so stay tuned for more news on this as it becomes available.
