Last night the Red Wings ended their 7 game losing streak by defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 thanks in large part to Gustav Nyquist’s two goals in his season debut with the Wings after much controversy surrounding his season start in Grand Rapids.
Nyquist made an immediate impact though to say the very least scoring just 17 seconds in to the game to put Detroit ahead early 1-0.
But aside from that opening goal, Nyquist was extremely vital the rest of the game drawing a penalty that helped result in the third goal of the night and scoring the game winner on a breakaway in the third period.
Now GM Ken Holland has a decision to make.
According to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, Nyquist is set to be in the lineup Saturday night when the Wings take on Ottawa from the Joe.

No brainer right? Sure but with Nyquist playing in his second game on the call-up he cannot be sent back down to Grand Rapids without first going through waivers which would certainly mean the end him being a Red Wing.
So who becomes the odd man out once DeKeyser is ready to return from the IR because it certainly cannot be Nyquist.
