After Detroit’s season ended team president and general manager Dave Dombrowski acknowledged the club’s desire to find a veteran free agent closer this offseason.
The 38-year old reliever Nathan had 43 saves for the Rangers last season compiling a 6-2 record with a 1.39 ERA. Tigers fans probably most remember Nathan for his 7 seasons with the Minnesota Twins.
In 13 seasons – split between San Francisco, Minnesota and Texas – Nathan has 341 saves and a career 2.76 ERA.
