Free agent closer Joe Nathan and Tigers showing ‘mutal interest’

The Tigers may address their closer situation with an old Central foe.

According to FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi Detroit and free agent closer Joe Nathan have ‘mutual interest’ in each other with the Tigers “high on his wish list” of potential free agent landing spots.

After Detroit’s season ended team president and general manager Dave Dombrowski acknowledged the club’s desire to find a veteran free agent closer this offseason.

The 38-year old reliever Nathan had 43 saves for the Rangers last season compiling a 6-2 record with a 1.39 ERA. Tigers fans probably most remember Nathan for his 7 seasons with the Minnesota Twins.

In 13 seasons – split between San Francisco, Minnesota and Texas – Nathan has 341 saves and a career 2.76 ERA.
