So you think you despise Hawk Harrelson? Well you might want to add Colorado Avalanche play-by-play man Mike Haynes to the list of opposing announcers you flat out detest.
Yeah I know Colorado has been about as relevant in the hockey world as some beer league rec team in Taylor but last night when Avalanche winger Cody McLeod delivered a nasty and cheap hit to Niklas Kronwall, Haynes found nothing but enjoyment as the Red Wing defenseman lay on the ice in obvious distress.
Here’s what the ass clown Haynes had to say about it:
“you talk about getting a little of your own medicine. Kronwall made a living in this league with big hits and he just got crushed there by Cody McLeod.”
The problem with that statement is Kronwall has never been suspended for any of the hits he’s given (which are nasty but clean) while players around the League never identify him (Kronwall) as a dirty player.
Luckily for the Altitude Sports broadcast, color guy Peter McNab was quick to compare the hit to Maxim Lapierre’s on Dan Boyle and how both were dirty plays.
Detroit though got the last laugh as they handed Patrick Roy, Cody McLead, Mike Haynes and the rest of the Colorado Avalanche their first loss of the season by a score of 4-2.
Meanwhile McLeod will be given an in-person hearing with Brendan Shanahan (I’m laughing at the irony) to discuss possible (and probable) disciplinary action while Kronwall was diagnosed with a concussion and is out indefinitely.
