Tigers singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ as they shut out the Red Sox 3-0 (VIDEO)

A day after getting shutout 4-0 and denied of the sweep against Cleveland Sunday the Tigers came back with a shutout of their own behind Doug Fister Monday afternoon.

Fister earned a career high 12th win of the season after pitching 7 shutout innings with 4 strikeouts and just 4 hits altogether en route to a 3-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox from Fenway.

The Tigers were finally able to break the scoreless tie in the 7th inning after a Victor Martinez single was followed by an Andy Dirks triple to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Detroit would eventually stretch that lead out to 2-0 heading to the bottom half of the 7th but not before Max Scherzer, Brayan Pena, Miguel Cabrera and Anibal Sanchez got together to sing Sweet Caroline during the stretch.

Prince Fielder was able to make it 3-0 in the top of the 9th as Jose Veras closed the door the door in the 9th for his 21st save of the season.
