Along with the rest of the NHL Friday, the Red Wings released their 2013-14 regular season schedule as a member of newly reconstructed Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference.

The Wings will begin their regular season against division rival Buffalo on October 2nd at 8PM ET. This game will be broadcasted on the NBC Sports Network. The Wings will finish the regular season on the road against former division rival St. Louis on April 13th at 2PM ET. This game can also be seen on the NBC Sports Network as well as NBC.

Other games to look out for

November 4th at Winnipeg: The Wings will make their first trip to Winnipeg since sending the original Jets packing for Arizona back in 1996. Detroit hosted Winnipeg last year but never was scheduled a return trip.

November 7th vs. Dallas: Former assistant GM Jim Nill makes his return to Detroit this time as the top guy with the Dallas Stars. The Wings will also get an early look at the number of changes Nill has made to a Dallas Stars team that has struggled in recent years prior to his arrival.

November 9th vs. Tampa Bay: The captain Steve Yzerman makes his way back to the JLA for the first time in two seasons as the GM of the Lightning. Valtteri Filppula also makes his return for the first time since signing his big contract with Tampa Bay. Will he make the Wings regret not bringing him back? I doubt it but we’ll have to wait and see.

December 1st at Ottawa: This is a game forward Daniel Alfredsson definitely has circled on his calendar. The longtime Ottawa Senator now Detroit Red Wing will make his return to Canadian capital in what’s sure to be a very emotional and probably tense homecoming for the Swedish star.

December 10th at Florida: This caps a home and home with the Panthers however this game signals the return of Stephen Weiss to south Florida. Again another homecoming to keep an eye on.

January 1st vs. Toronto: Detroit finally gets to host a Winter Classic and this one should be one for the history books. The Toronto Maple Leafs make their way to Ann Arbor to take on the Wings from Michigan Stadium in a game that’s sure to draw more than 110,000 fans and rekindle a new divisional rivalry between these two Original Six teams.

January 12th vs. Chicago Blackhawks: The Wings take on the defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks for the first time since taking them to the brink of elimination in this past Western Conference semi finals. Despite no longer being division rivals the bad blood between these two teams is sure to continue.

February 8th at Tampa Bay: Aside from once again seeing Val Filppula this time on his home ice this will be the last game for the Wings until February 26th due to the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Once NHL play resumes the Wings will make their way to Montreal to take on the Canadians.
