The Pistons looked to of finally landed a targeted piece.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Detroit and free agent forward Josh Smith agreed to terms on a 4-year/$56 million dollar contract Saturday morning.

The move for Joe Dumars and the Pistons comes after weeks of speculation of the team going hard for Smith and missing out on free agent Andre Iguodala and orchestrating a trade for Toronto forward Rudy Gay. It also comes during a time in which Dumars has faced the wrath of the fans for not doing enough with the money in hand or making the wrong move free agent wise.
$13.5 mill per is the total. Seems like Smith pulled that extra from #Pistons.

Last season the versatile forward averaged 17.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists with the Atlanta Hawks but still has yet to reach what could be his full potential.
Josh Smith is still just 27. Passing skills overlooked, but averaged 4+ assists last season. Teams will have trouble matchup up on boards.

For everybody who doesn't like the signing, why don't you just wait and see what happens next. They aren't done yet. #Pistons

The 27-year old Smith will now join a budding Pistons front court that includes Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe.
Obviously it’s not clear as of yet if Smith will ultimately work out for the Pistons but perhaps a change in scenery was in order for him.
