Wings sign Florida C Stephen Weiss to a four-year deal

It’s been a busy day thus far in Hockeytown.

After signing away Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson, the Wings got another team leader by inking second line center Stephen Weiss to a five-year, $4.5 million dollar deal per year contract.

With the Weiss signing the Wings now have the flexibility to move Datsyuk and Zetterberg onto the same line and not to mention head into 2013 with 14 forwards under contract.

The former 4th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft has 145 goals and 249 assists in 654 games. This also includes five points in seven playoff games.
