Report: Pistons offer up Villanueva and Stuckey to Toronto for Rudy Gay

In a continuing effort to retool their roster the Pistons have reportedly made an attempt to acquire a previously sought after target.

According to ESPN, the Pistons have offered forward Charlie Villanueva and guard Rodney Stuckey to the Toronto Raptors for forward Rudy Gay. Joe Dumars and the Pistons were targeting Gay prior to last seasons deadline before he was ultimately dealt to the Raptors for  Ed Davis in a three team deal that also saw the Pistons receive Jose Calderon.

After being dealt Gay played in 33 games for the Raptors averaging 20.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

So Pistons fans are probably thinking… what’s the benefit of Stuckey and Villanueva? Well both are on expiring deals worth about $8.5 million each while Gay is under contract through the 2014-15 season for more than $37 million dollars.
