The Tigers dropped another one this afternoon falling to the Toronto Blue Jays 8-3 in the series opening from the Rogers Centre. Despite missing four regulars the Jays jumped on Tigers starter Jose Alvarez early tagging him for four runs in the third inning effectively ending his day.
With the loss the Tigers have now dropped 6 of 7 and 9 of 13 according to play by play man Dan Dickerson since climbing a season high 10 games above the .500 mark. They’ve also lost their grip on first place in the AL Central to the Cleveland Indians.
#Tigers have now lost 6 of 7, 9 of 13 since climbing season high 10G over .500 at 39-29. Reach midway pt of season at 43-38 (39-42 last yr).

But the news got a little worse for the Tigers, ironically enough on the day Jose Alvarez got knocked around. According to James R. Chipman, Anibal Sanchez who was making a rehab start in High-A Lakeland after spending 15-days on the DL was removed from the game after taking a comebacker to the leg.

Initially there was no word on the extent of Sanchez’s injury who was originally on the rehab start due to a shoulder strain but Jason Beck did tweet that things look to be ok in terms of the leg injury.
Hearing Anibal Sanchez is feeling OK. Doesn't sound like any serious damage.

There’s also no word yet on if today’s setback will delay Sanchez’s return to the Tigers.
So with another loss today, Sanchez being removed from his High-A rehab start and plenty of Tigers fans pressing the panic button in early July we may as well have some fun with this… cut that Benny Hill music!
