According to MLB.com’s Jason Beck (via MLBTradeRumors.com), the Tigers had a scout at this weekend’s Giants/Marlins game as Detroit is said to have an interest in Miami relievers Steve Cishek and Ryan Webb.
The Tigers had a scout at this weekend’s Marlins-Giants series at San Francisco. Detroit has been rumored to have interest in Miami relievers who could hit the trade market next month, such as closer Steve Cishek and setup man Ryan Webb.
Cishek (27), has 12 saves this season on 14 chances with an ERA of 3.45 and WHIP of 1.15. He also has 29 strikeouts to go along with his 12 walks in 31.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile in 33.2 innings pitched for the Marlins, setup man Ryan Webb (27) has an ERA of 3.48 and WHIP of 1.43 to go along with 22 strikeouts and 17 walks.
The Tigers will more than likely be looking for any relief help they can get, especially when it comes to late inning guys as the Jose Valverde experiment failed and Bruce Rondon is untested and not even in the Majors yet.
In addition, the Tigers have also been linked to White Sox reliever Jesse Crain.
